Paceman Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Worries.

'Serious blow' for England as Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.

The pace bowler added to England's injury problems upon exiting the field early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell on Saturday.

The England team stated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time on the sidelines for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the series beginning on 4 January gets underway at the end of the week.

The visitors have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

The seamer had a tough time early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was omitted from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, before adding 28 while batting among just a trio of England players who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he resumed on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, towards the conclusion of that over, he delivered a slower ball to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission the previous Test.
