The Banking Giant Notified US Authorities About Over $1 Billion in Epstein-Linked Financial Activities Potentially Connected to Human Trafficking

Recent court documents confirm that JP Morgan submitted a suspicious activity report in 2019 alerting government regulators about over $1 billion in transactions linked to the convicted sex offender that may have been connected to human trafficking.

Bank's Extensive Documentation of Questionable Activity

JP Morgan flagged approximately nearly five thousand financial activities totaling more than $1 billion that appeared potentially linked to human trafficking reports concerning Epstein, according to the newly released legal records.

This documentation was submitted just weeks after Epstein was found dead in a Manhattan detention facility and also flagged wire transfers made by the financier to financial institutions in Russia.

Prominent Individuals Named in Documentation

The suspicious activity report identified several well-known business figures and persons in association with the flagged transactions, including:

  • The Apollo co-founder, who departed from the private equity firm in 2021
  • Glenn Dubin, an established financial executive
  • The noted attorney, acting as one of Epstein's lawyers
  • Financial entities under the direction of retail tycoon Leslie Wexner

This documentation specifically identified $65 million in wire transfers from the 2000s era that seemed to transfer between multiple banks associated with the Wexner-controlled entities.

Judicial and Political Scrutiny

JP Morgan's 15-year relationship with Epstein has become a focus of major judicial examination and government interest.

These released records were included in legal proceedings from 2023 initiated by the US Virgin Islands, where Epstein owned a private island and managed the majority of his financial affairs.

Furthermore, victims of trafficking by Epstein also participated in the legal action, which the banking institution ultimately resolved.

Bank's Statement and Oversight Context

A spokesperson for the bank stated that the release of the suspicious activity reports shows the institution had notified regulators about Epstein as required.

The representative stated: "These reports verify what was previously suspected: the bank filed SARs about Epstein promptly, and specifically when it exited Epstein from the bank in 2013 – and repeatedly between 2013 and 2019, as mandated."

The representative continued: "It does not appear that federal authorities or law enforcement acted on those SARs for an extended period."

Personal Reactions and Legal Status

Representatives for the identified persons have provided different statements regarding their mention in the report:

  • The hedge fund manager's spokesperson asserted that the referenced financial activities were not connected to the financier's illegal activities
  • Alan Dershowitz claimed the sole payments he obtained from Epstein were for legal services
  • Leon Black's representative chose not to respond

Crucially, not one of the persons identified in the report have been charged with crimes in connection to Epstein.
