Much like bad weather tore through the northern region the previous evening, the home side blew Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a display that firmly established their title credentials as they reinforced their position at the top of the table.

This scoreline marked successive Women's Super League setbacks for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since May 2024, putting them a sizable gap off the top team with their trophy ambitions severely dented.

The Red Devils' capacity to balance league and European football with a limited roster has been a frequently analyzed topic since they secured entry to the UCL.
