The President Invites Relatives of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Community members assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the individual that educators wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The event led the government to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor said on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” he addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
